Green Mountain Coffee Brews New "PBS Blend"

Java companies need new coffee varieties just as Ben and Jerry's needs new ice cream flavors, and so Green Mountain Coffee Roasters of Waterbury, Vt., is introducing PBS Blend, a new Fair Trade Certified organic coffee that was grown, as Green Mountain noted, "in the lush tropical rain forests surrounding the El Triunfo Biosphere in Mexico."

PBS, headquartered in Arlington, Va., is a nonprofit media enterprise owned and operated by the nation's roughly 350 public television stations.

Aside from a putative full flavor and a "rich finish," PBS Blend may help caffeinate a social conscience. Available at www.greenmountaincoffee.com/pbs, PBS Blend also supports public television's programming and educational services.

"We are pleased to be working with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, which shares PBS's commitment to social responsibility and community education," PBS vice president Andrea Downing said in a statement.

Meanwhile, 7-Eleven Inc., the Dallas chain of convenience stores, recently shared its wisdom on regional coffee tastes; each region, according to the chain, has preference for different flavored coffees.
