Coffee Company Raises Funds for American Hiking Chattanooga, TN--American Hiking Society and Higher Ground coffee roasters have joined together to offer an Organic, Fair Trade, shade grown blend of coffee to support the construction, protection and promotion of hiking trails in the southeast. This medium-bodied coffee carries a taste of wild berries and a subtle dark chocolate finish. Better yet, the coffee is certified Fair Trade, and since it's shade grown, its songbird friendly! A portion of each purchase will support American Hiking Society's work in the southeast. American Hiking Society opened an office in Chattanooga in April 2003 to build, promote, and protect a vast 5,000-mile trail network in a 9-state region in the southeast. According to Jeffrey Hunter, the Southeast Trail Programs Director for American Hiking Society, "this partnership with Higher Ground Roasters accomplishes several goals. It helps to support the regional economy while providing coffee lovers and hikers with an exceptional product that was produced in harmony with the environment. It also helps to raise funds to support our work here in the southeast. Higher Ground's commitment to support family farmers in Latin America is another of the reasons why we chose to partner with them." Coffee lovers can order the Southeastern Foot Trails Coalition blend by contacting Higher Ground Roasters at 1-800-794-8575. Orders can also be placed online at the Higher Ground Web site. |
