Café Humana Releases New Coffee To Benefit Domestic Violence Prevention and Women in Developing Nations

SEATTLE, WA – Café Humana has partnered with the King County (WA) Coalition Against Domestic Violence (KCCADV) to launch their new “Empowerment Blend”, setting a new standard for the potential good a bag of coffee can have.

The impact begins in the fields of Latin America where this Fair Trade, Shade Grown and Organic coffee is grown exclusively by women and women-run cooperatives. Cafe Humana sources this coffee through the Café Femenino Foundation, a Vancouver, WA-based non-profit that exists to promote women’s empowerment in coffee growing, developing nations. A portion of the proceeds from Café Humana’s purchase of this coffee goes directly to support the work of Café Femenino Foundation (www.cafefemenino.org) which has brought the women of these rural areas together for a positive future.

Once roasted and bagged under the Empowerment Blend label, Café Humana will donate up to $2 from the sale of each bag directly to the KCCADV for their efforts to assist victims of domestic violence and promote awareness in King County, WA. Any proceeds remaining will be used by Café Humana for their mission of promoting global sustainability through conservation, education, and research with 100% of their net profits.

“This coffee really represents the type of synergy we want all of our coffee to have”, says Jim Meyers, Café Humana’s founder. “Being able to make a connection between women in different hemispheres through coffee and have it benefit them all is truly awesome. I am honored to be able to assist both organizations as part of what we do in our everyday business.”

Café Humana will have the coffee placed locally with select retail partners and it will also be available through Amazon.com in early October. In addition, the KCCADV will be selling it directly at events throughout October (Domestic Violence Awareness Month) including a presentation on October 27th at 5:30PM at the Washington State Convention Center by Café Femenino’s Founder, Gaylene Smith. Call for more info or to request Empowerment Blend for your retail location.
