Internships and Volunteering

Channel Development
This internship is for those with a strong interest in sales, marketing, grassroots advocacy and international affairs. Interns in the Retail and Hospitality Department will assist in our ongoing efforts to increase sales and availability of Fair Trade Certified products in grocery stores, hotels, restaurants, cafes, universities, distributors and food service providers.

You will be involved in:
Researching potential new markets for Fair Trade Certified products
Store visits to local retail establishments to view product offerings, talk to store managers, gather data, and increase consumer awareness of Fair Trade
Updating/maintaining “Where to Buy” database of retail outlets carrying FTC products nationwide
Assist with supporting Account Managers in researching new accounts and maintaining current relationships
   
   

Schedule: 20 hours/week for a minimum of 10 weeks.

Compensation: Internship is unpaid, but a monthly stipend is available to cover local travel expenses.

Qualifications: Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be detail oriented and thorough, enjoy working on a team, and possess a strong interest in helping to expand the sales and availability of Fair Trade Certified products nationwide. Very strong organizational/administrative skills and ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects essential, computer skills (especially Microsoft excel) and possible database experience preferred.
