Testimonial from William and Mary

I go to the College of William and Mary and I had a screening of Black Gold at the university. Over 300 people came, and they left saying they felt their perspectives changed after the movie. People then proceeded to buy all of our Fair Trade goods, take literature and drink the coffee. Black Gold made an impact at my school. Just want you to know. Thank you! -- Erica C.

Producer Spotlight
Rwandan Coffee Co-op Wins Quality Competition!

Congratulations to the Fair Trade coffee cooperative COOPAC for winning big in the Eastern African Fine Coffees Association cupping competition. With an impressive score of 86.08, COOPAC took first place among Rwandan coffee producers and 3rd place overall.

Perched on the steep hills of northwest Rwanda, the Coopérative Pour la Promotion des Activités-Café (COOPAC), is located in a region with high altitude, heavy rainfall, and mineral-rich soil that provide perfect conditions for growing the finest Arabica coffees.

Coffee had long been Rwanda's largest export, but production plunged following the genocide in 1994. Despite these challenges, COOPAC has doubled its production each year since its founding in 2001 and demonstrates the potential of the Rwandan coffee market to benefit local communities.
