Future Fair Trade Certified products

If you are interested in obtaining Fair Trade certification for products other than coffee, tea and chocolate, TransFair USA would like to receive more information about you and your products. In order for TransFair and our umbrella organization, Fairtrade Labeling Organizations International (FLO), to explore the possibilities for providing future Fair Trade certification here in the United State for your products, we’ll need to have the following information:

Your business model and suppliers. Please describe the supply chain for all your current products (producers, importers, and manufacturers) and how you sell your product (e.g. direct or through a distributor) in the US market.

The producers you work with. Are your suppliers/producers organized cooperatives, or workers on estates? How many farmers or members? What is the size of the estate or the average size of the farms? Where are these producers located?
Please note: TransFair works to address the needs of producers in the developing countries of the global south, and to help them gain access to consumer markets in the US for their goods. We do not currently certify US producer groups and do not have plans to do so.

Environmental and social projects on the ground. Please describe the producer communities’ access to health, education, environmental and other
community projects, and detail who manages and funds these programs.
Your market. Please provide as much information as you can about your current and potential (future) market opportunities for your products in the US, in terms of volume (raw product in pounds).

Send information the above information to TransFair:

Once TransFair has a solid understanding of the above, we can make a recommendation to FLO to:

Develop the Fair Trade criteria for producers and businesses.
Create infrastructure for monitoring producers and participating companies.
